In this episode, I speak with the brilliant Naz Barouti. Naz is a lawyer, author, entrepreneur, media commentator, and public speaker. Known in the legal world as the estate planning “guru,” Naz has been called upon by news outlets such as Fox News Radio, Bloomberg TV, USA Today, and Fox 11 News for legal commentary in matters of death, divorce, or criminal prosecution of high-profile figures. She can currently be heard on talk radio 790 AM KABC as the host of "Love, Death and Money."
Naz was born in Iran and migrated to the United States during the Iran/Iraq war.
She is not your average lawyer. In everything she does, she first and foremost considers herself a legal advocate for women. Her goal is to help all women understand why they need to protect their assets when entering into a partnership, whether for love or business.
Naz emphasizes the importance of estate planning in all stages of life. We all have an important legacy to leave behind. Learn how Naz empowers her clients to protect their assets and legacies with these three tips:
1. Your love for humanity has to outweigh a paycheck.
People want to feel a connection and that you care. If you chase the money, you will fail miserably. If you come from a perspective of purpose, servant leadership, and striving for excellence, that’s the true path to success.
2. Take full responsibility for your life and financial future.
If you don't have a plan, the government has a plan for you, and you're not going to like it! We have to take responsibility, seek out the resources, and understand what having a plan for our future entails. It’s never too early to start planning.
3. Don’t be afraid of difficult conversations; embrace them.
People get funny around money, but it’s critical to lay the foundation and have the difficult conversations in all partnerships and relationships.
